Police Achieves Major Success in Saharsa: Wanted Criminal Prince Kumar Arrested
In a significant breakthrough, the Saharsa district police, in a joint operation with Patarghat Police Station, Pastpar Police Station, and Bihar STF Patna, have arrested a long-absconding criminal, Prince Kumar alias Gajendra Yadav. He had a reward of ₹50,000 on his head. The accused is a resident of Thadhi village under Pastpar Police Station in Saharsa district.
Prince Opened Fire on Police and Escaped: Incident Details
On February 12, 2025, Saharsa police received a tip-off that notorious criminals Ramratna Singh alias Ram Singh and Prince Kumar were planning a major criminal act along with their accomplices. Acting swiftly, the police raided their suspected hideout in Tat Tola, Pastpar. Sensing police presence, the criminals opened fire and tried to flee. In the retaliatory action, two criminals were nabbed on the spot, but Prince managed to escape. The police recovered a country-made pistol, five live cartridges, and three motorcycles from the scene. A case was registered under Patarghat Police Station Case No. 25/25 in connection with this incident.
Breakthrough Through Technical Surveillance
Acting under the directive of the Superintendent of Police, Saharsa, a special team was formed. The team used technical surveillance and confidential sources to track Prince Kumar's movements. Eventually, on May 6, 2025, the joint team successfully apprehended him.
Criminal Background
Prince Kumar has a lengthy criminal record involving serious charges like robbery, murder, violation of the Arms Act, dacoity, and firing. Multiple cases are registered against him in different police stations including Gwalpara (Madhepura), Saur Bazar, Pastpar, and Patarghat. Key officers involved in this successful operation include Armod Kumar (Station Head, Pastpar), Roshan Kumar (Station Head, Patarghat), Vikas Kumar Singh (Sub-Inspector, Patarghat), STF Bihar Team (Patna), and armed forces from Pastpar and Patarghat stations. This operation is being seen as a major step toward restoring law and order in the region.
