105 Arrested as Police Crack Down on Drug Trafficking Across Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura with Public Helpline Support
Koshi zone, Saharsa: The ‘Drug-Free Kosi’ campaign across Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura districts is gaining momentum, with public participation helping police intensify action against drug trafficking and the illegal liquor trade. According to Kumar Ashish, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Kosi Range, residents have been sharing crucial information through the dedicated helpline 9060384865. The identities and phone numbers of informants are kept confidential, while all action is taken under the DIG’s direct supervision. Between October 3 and 9, 2026, police seized 1,275.555 litres of illicit liquor, 283.65 kg of ganja, 187.66 grams of smack, 0.296 litres of illegal cough syrup and 58 ml of intoxicating injections. They also confiscated 12 motorcycles, one three-wheeler, two four-wheelers and one boat. Police arrested 85 people in illicit liquor cases and 20 others in cases involving narcotic substances. All accused were sent to jail, and further legal proceedings are underway.
Over 2,343 Traffickers Arrested Since February
Since the campaign began in February 2026, police have seized 73,981.395 litres of illicit liquor, 4,317.491 litres of illegal cough syrup, 7,260.705 kg of ganja, 8,284.552 grams of smack, 13,042 ml of intoxicating injections and 325 intoxicating tablets. Authorities also recovered firearms, ammunition, vehicles, mobile phones, bank documents, weighing machines and cash amounting to ₹61,63,252 and NPR 27,570. A total of 2,343 drug traffickers have been arrested and sent to jail since the campaign’s launch.

Residents can report drug trafficking and illegal liquor through calls, text messages or WhatsApp at 9060384865. Informants may provide suspects’ details, locations and supporting photographs or videos. Their identities will remain confidential, and those whose information produces significant results may receive rewards from the DIG. Police have urged citizens to support the campaign and help make the three districts free from drugs and illegal liquor.
